Dear friends and family,
Many of you can remember when 30 years ago I started on a voyage that continues until this day. I joined Amigos de las Americas on a rabies vaccination program in Ecuador. I continued to volunteer with Amigos the following year in Mexico and in 1990 worked on staff as a Route Leader again in Mexico.
I have been privileged to continue to work with Amigos over the last 30 years and this past year became a member of the Amigos International Board of Directors.
Amigos sees a world where each young person becomes a lifelong catalyst for social change. It stands apart as an industry leader in the field of international youth leadership development programs and is the most transformative program for emerging global leaders committed to service.
Together, US and Latin American Amigos program participants train and learn to collaborate and lead projects throughout the Americas in areas such as health, environment, youth entrepreneurship, children's rights, creative expression, or sports and fitness. Our programs create an opportunity for youth in high school and college to develop character defining skills in leadership. They learn critical skills in working across cultural boundaries in our increasingly interconnected world.
The high school and college aged volunteers and their peers in Latin America describe “life changing” experiences that enable them to grow into the leaders that we need to help us all to grow in our increasingly interconnected and collaborative world.
I love this organization and firmly believe in its mission. It is in all of our interests to help create the leaders for our future. I am asking each of you to support the continued work of AMIGOS and our vision of a world where our youth will become leaders for positive change.
Thank you for considering a gift to continue the work of AMIGOS.
